Decentralization
Unlike centralized databases, which are logically or physically dependent on a single IT infrastructure or a limited set of servers, blockchain platforms are distributed across a wide array of network nodes. Each one of the nodes supports a complete version of the database, and as a result there is no single point of failure. For a cyber-attack to alter or destroy a blockchain database, it would need to compromise more than 50% of the network, something that is close to impossible. This technological feature brings important organizational consequences. Because the data keeping does not depend on a central authority but is rather dispersed along the network, it is possible for a decentralized set of actors to interact in a trustful way, without any of them having control over the others.
In the specific case of the MAS platform, the only data that will be held on a central server will be name, e-mail and personal information.
